BARCA policy is focused on developing the responsible, sustainable production of wood that satisfies all our customer needs.
Our commitment is to maintain FSC certification in the management of our plantations, meeting the principles established by the Forest Stewardship Council.
Our leadership is reflected in how we conduct all of our activities:
- ensuring the protection and stability of the soil, using the appropriate practices and equipment to minimize erosion and to promote its conservation
- identifying areas that need special attention, like the habitat of endangered species, cultural sites, etc.
- undertaking research projects in order to advance silviculture, ecosystem restoration and forest policy
- avoiding the use of hazardous chemicals that could possibly damage humans and/or the environment
- protecting water resources like watersheds, creeks and rivers through conservation practices that improve their natural flow
- protecting natural habitats of ecological importance and prohibiting the conversion of natural forests
- complying with international labor laws and the national legislation applicable to our activities, as well as respecting human rights, with special attention paid to first nation communities
