History

BARCA began in Costa Rica in 1994, developing plantations in the area of Parrita. This project served as a keystone in developing experience in plantation management. As we grew, the company started to develop and manage plantations for other clients in order to produce certified wood (teak) for the benefit of their investors. Today, we have all the experience and resources required to develop successful and environmentally-friendly forestry projects.

In Costa Rica, our plantations are located in the Central Pacific, Parrita and its surrounding areas, and in the South Pacific, Palmar, Piedras Blancas, Conte and the Osa Peninsula.

In 2001, the company earned the “green seal” from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), fulfilling all the requirements for healthy, socially responsible and economically feasible environmental management of the forests and plantations. This “green seal” approach is a commitment that we have with respect to the environment and all the communities that surround our projects.

Since 2006, BARCA began its operations in Panama, developing forestry projects in the regions of Chiriquí, Veraguas and Darien. The company also advises a reforestation project in Pico Bonito National Park which is located in La Ceiba, Honduras.
